BJ Teen Executive Board Announces 2020-2021 Tzedek Project

As a Teen Executive Board, we have chosen the issue of Environmental Racism for our Tzedek Project. As young people watching and participating in the recent call for anti-racism, we wanted to combine this important work with our Judaism. Many of us expressed an interest in continuing the larger BJ community’s anti-racism work, and we spent much of the summer in discussions about more specific issues in the wider lens of racism.

When it came time to pick a topic for our Tzedek Project, we felt that, as a board, the topic of Environmental Racism fit with our values as a teen community. We are currently working on a few different facets of this project. Our main goals include a partnership with the Jewish Youth Climate Movement, an education/awareness component, and events to promote productive conversation around the specifics of and ways to work on eradicating Environmental Racism. We are also in the process of choosing a related organization to raise funds for.

Our first Tzedek Project Meetup will be on October 21st, and we’re excited for a night of planning, reflection, and action! To get involved, email Abigail Bromberger.

L’shalom,
