The Best of Intentions: The What and How of Kavannah

  • December 26, 2022 @ 8:45 am - 2:00 pm

  • Remote Access Only

The world we live in is busier and more distracting than ever, and the attempt to cultivate focus is both widespread and counter-cultural. Mitzvot, such as prayer, can be the site of intentional, even immersive experiences, but they are not necessarily so. What would it mean to have true kavvanah in these mitzvot? And how can one work towards having it?

In this four-day seminar with the Drisha Institute for Jewish Education, explore the core questions of whether mitzvot require intentionality or not, and study practices and techniques for achieving kavannah in prayer. Join us on Zoom for morning Talmud seder with Dr. Shana Strauch Schick, and for afternoon sessions led by Rabbi Roly Matalon, Dr. Devora Steinmetz, Dr. Rabbi Jon Kelsen, and Dr. Matan Ygoda.
