Stand for Democracy!

The Public Council of the Israeli Stand Up for Democracy Coalition is pleased to invite you to this year’s Remember the Assassination event taking place on Sunday, November 6.

This year marks 27 years since the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzkah Rabin z”l. The Coalition is proud to continue to bring together a wide array of individuals, youth movements, and organizations from different political and ideological leanings, all of whom are committed to creating a strong culture of democracy, promoting dialogue, and denouncing violence.

For New York Metro residents: Join us in person at 2:00 PM on November 6 at Stephen Wise Synagogue for a talk with Rabbi Michael Miller, CEO Emeritus of the Jewish Community Relations Council – NY. The talk will focus on the theme: What Kind of State of Israel Do You Want. Small discussion groups will follow.

Our virtual event will start at 3:00 PM. It will feature guest speaker Yuli Tamir, former Minister of Education and Immigration and current President of Beit Beryl College.

At 4:00 PM, we will join together for a youth-led ceremony, live-streamed from New York.

About the speakers:

Rabbi Michael Miller: Rabbi Michael brings over 30 years experience building bridges between a broad array of local ethnic, racial and religious groups in the New York area, and within the Jewish community.

Yuli Tamir: Tamir brings four decades of political and academic engagement with the challenges of democracy in Israeli society, and is a member of the Public Council of the Israeli Stand Up for Democracy Coalition.
