Connections Book Talk with Letty Cottin Pogrebin

Letty Cottin Pogrebin—writer, activist, founding editor of Ms. magazine, and longtime member of BJ— will discuss her new book, Shanda: A Memoir of Shame and Secrecy. Rabbi Felicia Sol will open with a brief taste of Jewish wisdom on the subject of hiddenness, followed by longtime BJ member and civil rights lawyer Kathleen Peratis in conversation with Letty. They will discuss the amazing variety of secrets that burdened her immigrant family and others of their generation, and how the power of the shanda (Yiddish for shame or disgrace) operates to this day to either constrict our lives or fuel our aspirations.

This event is open to members and non-members.

Connections is BJsocial group for adults age 55+.
