Dear Fellow BJ Members,
As 2021 draws to a close, and the omicron COVID-19 variant forces us to retreat into our narrower spaces, I can’t help but reflect on the refuge that our beloved community has provided me, my family, and fellow members hailing from locations far and wide. The state of these uncertain times cannot be sugar-coated. We face a host of challenges that we never could have imagined—yet here we are—and BJ has not missed a beat and continues to shine as a beacon for all of us.
During a recent weekly meeting with the rabbis, I expressed my gratitude and wonderment at how the rabbis continue to do what they do to carry the community through these times. Felicia looked at me and said, “it’s so much bigger than us,” and of course, it is.
BJ’s dedicated staff are a crew like no other. It has taken many years to build our staff into the cohesive team that they are now, and one of the most important traits that this diverse group has in common is its call to serve something bigger than themselves. Whether we are talking about our executive office, teen educators, community engagers, building caretakers, musicians, and many other folks in myriad capacities, this staff wakes in the morning to serve you.
I am in awe of what they do every day, so with an open heart and masses of gratitude I want to thank each and every BJ staff member for making our spiritual home the best it can be.
I would like to ask you all to join me in recognizing the achievements, contributions, and devotion of our staff.
