The Freedom to Love: LGBT Activism and a Journey from Ukraine to America

Tuesday, August 15 | 7:00PM | Private residence Tu B'Av is the Jewish Valentine's Day, and BJ's 20s and 30s community is celebrating by honoring three young men who courageously fought for their right to love. At this intimate evening of story sharing, we will hear from Ukrainian refugees who fled to escape discrimination and persecution because of their sexual identity and LGBT activism, and the BJ members who "adopted" these young men as they searched for freedom in America. Fall Teen Retreat

Friday, Oct 20-Sunday Oct 22 | Location TBA There is no better way to unwind from the High Holy Days that spending a weekend away with the BJ teen community! Throughout the weekend, teens will spend time with old friends, make new ones, and deepen their connection with the BJ community while experiencing a meaningful Shabbat outside of the city. Transportation will be provided. All meals are kosher or vegetarian and include snacks on Friday afternoon through breakfast on Sunday. (more…)
