Children of the Inquisition—Film Screening and Q&A

Thursday, August 8 | 7:00PM | Sanctuary

Join us for a screening of the film Children of the Inquisition, followed by a discussion and Q&A with filmmaker Joseph Lovett.

Children of the Inquisition unearths a 500-year-old history, revealing what happened to those forced to convert to Catholicism or flee during the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisitions. Told through the eyes of their contemporary descendants who are just discovering their Jewish roots, the characters come to understand how their ancestors shaped history, and how history shaped their identities.

Children of the Inquisition reveals to us an important but little-understood history that has never before received in-depth treatment in film.  It’s essential viewing and a ‘must-watch’ film for any serious student of history.”—Kevin Jennings, President, The Tenement Museum

Joseph Lovett is an award-winning filmmaker who produced the first investigations on AIDS for ABC’s 20/20, and has worked with many major networks. As an independent producer and director, he has created various feature documentaries and over 35 hours of prime time specials.
