On April 9, Israel will be holding a critical general election. After three terms of Bibi Netanyahu as prime minister, the center-left block will try to win, and the right ultra-orthodox block will try to maintain its power. The Israeli political system is more complicated than ever before, and, in turn, hard to navigate. These two sessions, held pre and post elections respectively, will help you understand the political map leading up to the elections, and analyze their results.
Monday, April 2- Israeli Election 101 with Michal Aharoni
Aharoni is an Israeli political adviser and expert, as well as a journalist for the Yisrael Hayom newspaper. He will discuss how Israeli politics are a mirror to Israeli society, and shed light on the urgent topics in the spotlight of the 2019 election.
Wednesday, April 10- Debrief and Speculation with the Israel Policy Forum and New Israel Fund
A day after the Israeli election, we will get together with the Israel Policy Forum and the New Israel Fund’s experts to debrief the election’s results and speculate the future from here. We will discuss what the coalition look like, the process of government formation, and potential policies.
