Social Justice Shabbaton: Retreat in the City

Friday, March 12 – Saturday, March 13 | 88th Street and 86th Street

Immerse yourself in a meaningful and spirited Shabbat at BJ with a focus on social justice, spirituality, and Jewish thought.   Participants will have the opportunity to get to know one another, learn together on the weekly Parashat, share music and dance, joy and prayers, and build a stronger community.

Cost:  $48 members/$58 non-members

General Schedule

  • Friday night services, 5:45PM
  • catered Shabbat Dinner in Frankel Hall, 7:00PM
    • lots of food, wine, folk singing, and an exciting introduction to the Shabbaton themes
  • reconvene Saturday for Community Shabbat morning services at 86th Street, 9:30AM
  • special home-cooked Kiddush lunch at 88th Street, after services
  • afternoon programming, until 6:30PM
    • Parsha Exploration: Divine vs. Human Justice and Power and Privilege
    • Alternative Meditative Minha service with Rabbi Marcelo Bronstein
    • Israeli Folk Dancing
    • Parsha Exploration: Social Justice as an Eco-System
  • Havdalah and closing celebration at 88th Street, until 7:30PM
