BJTeens - Ozrim

Teen Aides at BJHS and Children's Services
BJ teens are preparing to become emerging leaders in BJ's community. For many teens the best and most natural point of connection is sharing their love and knowledge with children. Teens in eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades may apply to be teachers' aides in the B'nai Jeshurun Hebrew School (BJHS) or service leaders' aides at weekly children's Shabbat morning services.

The Ozrim (literally, helpers) program provides the teens with task supervision to develop their teaching and leading skills, and a monthly meeting with other teens in the program and the teen staff. Linda Specht, Director of Education (Youth & Family), will supervise aides in the Hebrew School. Hollis Gauss, Director of Family Life, will supervise aides at children's services.

As Ozrim, teens may volunteer their time and receive community service credit, or, depending on age and experience, may be paid for their time. Teens who are paid may not receive community service credit. Hollis Gauss and Linda Specht will conduct interviews with all the teens who apply to be Ozrim between now and September.
