Lyrics:

O once there was a wicked, wicked man
And Haman was his name, sir
He would have murdered all the Jews
Though they were not to blame, sir
Oh, today we’ll merry merry be,
And nosh some hamentaschen.

And Esther was the lovely queen
Of king Achashverosh
When Haman said he’d kill us all
Oh my how he did scare us.
Oh, today…

But Mordechai her cousin bold
Said: “what a dreadful chutzpa!
If guns wewre but invented now
This Haman I would shoot, sir.
Oh, today…

The guest of honor he shall be
This clever Mr. Smarty
And high above us he shall swing
At a little hanging party.
Oh, today..

Of all his cruel and unkind ways
This little joke did cure him
And don’t forget we owe him thanks
For this jolly feast of Purim.
Oh, today…

Ze Hayom Purim

Lyrics translation:

This is Purim, fellows, a joyous holiday.
With songs and cheers and hellos, let’s wend our merry way.
Laugh, comrades, laugh, eat hearty and quaff, and marvel at God’s wondrous way.

Sing, comrades, sing, dance merry in throngs;  remember that wonderful day Haman, wicked schemer, his kind we’ve always known.
But God, the great Redeemer, these fiends has overthrown.

Wait, Haman, Oh wait, decreed is your fat, avenging and swift is His rod!
Dance children, and sing, make larger your ring, in happy thanksgiving to God.

Lyrics translation:

The rose of Jacob was cheerful and joyous when they saw together the royal blue of Mordechai’s [robe]. You have been their everlasting redemption, and their hope in every generation. To make known, that all who hope in you will not be embarrassed, and those who take refuge in You will never be humiliated. Cursed is Haman who sought to destroy me, blessed is Mordechai the Jew. Cursed is Zeresh, the wife of my tormentor, blessed is Esther [who acted] for me. May Charvonah also be remembered for good.

Lyrics transliteration:

Shoshanas Yaakov tzahala v’simcha, birosam yachad techeles Mordechai.
Teshuasam hayisa lanetzach, tikvasam b’chol dor vador.
Lehodiya, shekol kovecha lo yevoshu, velo yicalmu lanetzach kol hachosim bach. Arur Haman, asher bikesh le’abdi, baruch Mordechai hayehudi.
Arurah Zeresh, eshes mafchidi, beruchah Esther ba’adi, v’gam charvonah zachor latov.
