It’s so exciting to join a new community and begin to meet new friends and have new experiences. But, we know it can also be overwhelming, which is why we have a whole department dedicated to members! Conveniently, we call ourselves the Membership Department. We are here for you whenever you have questions about upcoming events and other membership related questions.
We designed a calendar called “A Taste of BJ“ for New Members just like you. It includes special events for new members as well as other events that will provide a good introduction to all BJ has to offer and help you meet other members. We suggest you print this calendar to help you plan ahead. All events will be found below as their dates approach.

Upcoming Events for New Members
Perform Two Mitzvot of Purim at Once!
Order mishloah manot (Purim gift baskets) and give matanot l’evyonim (gifts to the poor) at the same time! This year BJ is creating mishloah manot that BJ members can purchase to “send” to other BJ members of their choice. By participating you will also fulfill your obligation of matanot l’evyonim because BJ is donating the proceeds to charities selected by the BJ community. Mishloah manot will be distributed on March 7 and 8 at 88th Street and will be delivered to members over 80 and those who have had a birth or death in their immediate family during the past year. You Voted! The matanot l’evyonim will be going to JASA (Jewish Association for Services for the Aged) and Leket Israel (Israel’s National Food Bank and largest food rescue network).
