EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS
Winter Classes 2004
Shabbat Sing-a-Long
Joel Stein and Shai Specht
Prepare to usher in the Shabbat through art, music, stories and the melodies of BJ. The focus of this early childhood class is learning to appreciate the importance of the rituals of Shabbat through music. Curriculum: The theme of the Friday classes will be preparation for Shabbat. Torah and the synagogue will be explored through a toddler's learning venues: song, movement and tactile experience. Each class will include a music section, an arts project and a closing Shabbat ritual.
LOCATION: All classes will be held at 88th Street, Frankel Hall.
DATES: Eight Fridays January 9 - February 27
There will be three sections:
- 9:15-10:05AM for children 6-17 months old*
- 10:15-11:05AM for children 18-22 months old*
- 11:15-12:05PM for children 23-36 months old*

* There will be a maximum of 12 children per class. Arrangements regarding siblings will be made on a case by case basis to accommodate the needs of the class. We want to keep a 1:1 ratio child/parent or caregiver, in order to maintain a high standard of learning and experience.
A Magical Journey Through the Parasha of the Week
Shai Specht
Join us through a magical journey through the Parasha of the week. Each week we will bring the parasha to life through music, movement and storytelling. This promises to be an exciting and inspiring course.
LOCATION: All classes will be held at 88th Street, Frankel Hall.
DATES: Five Sundays January 18 - February 22, 2004.
TIME: 10:30-11:30 AM for children 2-3 years*

Goals and Intentions
While each class will have their own unique flavor, several intentions and goals underlie all of our programming:
- To provide a welcoming, warm environment for children to begin experiencing and exploring Jewish symbols, songs, and the rhythms of Jewish time in developmentally appropriate ways.
- To help integrate preschoolers and their parents into BJ - its spirit and unique way of approaching Jewish life.
- To build community among new parents at BJ and provide learning opportunities relating to the unique challenges of Jewish parenting.
Payment and Conditions
- Registration: Application and $50 (non-refundable) deposit for the Winter semester is due by December 15, 2003.
- Full Payment of tuition is due by January 1, 2004.
- No refunds after attending the first class.
- There are no make-up classes.
- If you would like to visit a class, please contact the office at least one week in advance, so we can make the proper arrangements. No drop-ins.
- Birthdays: If you want your child to celebrate his/her birthday with us, please give the teachers at least two weeks advance notice.
- All food brought to Frankel Hall must be dairy, kosher and sealed or catered by a kosher caterer. No cooked food from private homes is allowed, even if they are kosher.
