Who We Are
Tze’irim 20s and 30s is B’nai Jeshurun’s young adult group.
We are a diverse community of Jewish professionals and students, singles and couples, living in and around New York City. We are committed to creating a Jewish life that is meaningful, relevant, and dynamic, and we are honored to be part of a Jewish community that supports and celebrates our efforts.
Tze’irim is led by an executive committee of dedicated creative members of B’nai Jeshurun, and is supported by three sub-committees. All individuals are invited to learn more about getting involved in Tze’irim’s leadership.
What we do
We offer activities and programs geared for those in their 20s and 30s
Tze’irim hosts Shabbat Programs, runs Service Match which pairs newcomers with regular members to attend Shabbat services, organizes Social Action/Social Justice activities, and sponsors other fun Kehilah (community-building) outings.
Tze’irim programming is founded on 3 core values which are rooted in 3000 years of Jewish tradition and relevant to contemporary Jewish experience. Every TZ event, publication, and meeting is planned to embody one or more of these values.
Kehilah (Community)
We seek to foster a sense of community and belonging. This means encouraging participants to strengthen old bonds and forge new ones.
Hachnasat Orchim (Welcoming Guests)
We open our arms to new and potential members. This means creating a safe space in which everyone feels welcome to experiment, experience, and grow.
Kavanah (Intention)
We strive to act with intention. This mean developing goals, planning ahead, and offering well thought out events. We seek to foster intentionality in our members by creating opportunities to reflect on our actions.
Connecting TZ Online
Many of us meet on TZ’s Facebook page. Join in the dialog. Share your ideas. And if you have you had great experiences at a Tze’irim event, share your story!
Not Just for BJ Members
Everyone in their 20s or 30s is welcome to join any or all of our activities. Membership at BJ is not a requirement, though we value BJ and encourage you to join—the synagogue even offers a Special Tze’irim Rate.
Stay in the Know
Join the Tze’irim Mailing List! Our weekly email will alert you to upcoming Tze’irim events as well as synagogue-wide events that may be of interest to the 20s and 30s community.
